With Californians heading to the polls tomorrow to vote on Proposition 19, also known as the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010, an compelling article was posted on TIME.com titled Is Marijuana Addictive? It Depends How You Define Addiction.
The article talks about the difference between the physical and psychological effects of addiction. In the posting, Stanton Peele, author of the book Love and Addiction, says “How harmful is this addiction compared to other addictions? It can be disruptive to people's lives; I have a treatment center, and some people end up there because of marijuana. On the other hand, in terms of physical assaults to your body, it's better than smoking and better than alcohol."
How will it play out for the state of California? We will all have to wait and see what happens on November 2nd.
