Drug Court Cost Study finds large savings!

The California Administrative Office of the Courts and NPA Research performed a cost study on San Francisco Drug Court and found huge savings due to the positive outcomes for its participants.

Since inception in 1995, San Francisco Drug Court saved over $46 Million from reduced recidivism and reduced programmatic costs. On average, it costs $6,622 less per client to process a case through SF Drug Court than through a traditional criminal court. Also, due to the reduced recidivism associated with drug court participation, there is a savings of $7,675 per client.
