Webinar on Motivational Interviewing

An excellent webinar was conducted on Motivational Interviewing presented by the Center for Integrated Health Solutions, SAMHSA-HRSA.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a directive method of communicating that explores a client’s own argument for change, seeking to identify, reinforce, and consolidate their motivation to change behavior that lands them in the criminal justice system. Research has shown that the effect of change talk- self-motivated statements about behavioral change- provides an increased probability that the client will in fact change their behavior.

Increasingly in San Francisco, the use of MI is being introduced into community behavioral health settings as well as the criminal justice system.

You may view the recorded webinar at any time and will need Windows Media Player 9 or higher to view the presentation.
