"The Long Way Home" now on YouTube

"I want fathers to know how important they are to their kids. I want fathers to know that they are appreciated for what they're doing."
-- Eli Parson, DDC Peer Parent Advocate

The San Francisco Dependency Drug Court is proud to have supported the making of "The Long Way Home," a student documentary created through the Documentary for Health and Social Justice program at San Francisco State University. Students in this program work in partnership with community organizations to research, produce, and distribute documentaries that educate the public and advocate for change. The film premiered on December 17, 2013 and is now published on YouTube.

For this documentary, filmmakers Christina Ivazes, Josh Beck, Jimmy Alvergue, and Georgina Savage teamed up with the Homeless Prenatal Program to highlight the challenges father experience when trying to reunify with their children through the child welfare system.

The DDC Team commends Eli Parson and Joey Cordero for sharing their stories and helping fathers on their journeys to reunification.
